Prayers for the family of Julie Schwade Julianne "Julie" Schwade ObituaryJulianne (Goergen) Schwade, age 77, of Spring Valley, Minnesota, passed away on July 20, 2024, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Julie was born on September 18th, 1946, in Mason City, Iowa, to Clemons and Margaret (Koenigs) Goergen. She grew up in Adams, MN, attended and graduated from Adams High School in 1964. Following graduation, Julie worked in admissions at the Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis. In 1965, she was united in marriage to Steven Ruud, to this union 3 children were born; Jay, Jamie, and Jarett. They were later divorced. Julie held several jobs through the years, working at the Root River Country Club and the Chalet Café before retiring from Spring Valley Sales in 2022. In 1987, she married Dick Schwade and worked side by side with him for 35 years at Spring Valley Sales. Besides her family, what brought her joy was baking, gardening, canning, and finding a good deal shopping or at a garage sale. Julie will be greatly missed by her husband Dick; children Jay (Fiancé Vicky) Ruud, Jamie (Ray) Niewoehner, Jarett (Kari) Ruud, Robin (George) Osterhus, Rhonda (Brian) Williams; grandchildren Kole (Ashley) Ruud, Cassidy Ruud, Jade Miller, Jackie Niewoehner, Dalton Ruud, Tessa Ruud, Jemma Ruud, Nick Osterhus, Preston Osterhus, Shay Osterhus, Skylar Johnson, Alexis Johnson, Tavja Johnson; great-grandchild Emmett Johnson; siblings Suzanne (special friend Mel) Swanson, Joanne (Oliver) Hillier, Joe (Sara) Goergen; mother-in-law Dolores Schwade; brothers-in-law Dale (Jeanine) Schwade, Robert (Linda) Schwade; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Dianne Swanson and Father-in-law Fredolin Schwade. In honor of Julie, memorials can be directed to the charity of your choice. It was Julie’s wish that there be no services. There will be a private burial at a later date. See MoreSee Less

Membership Monday, Meet Sarah Ness!Sarah Christian Ness is CEO of Auction Masters. In 2024, Sarah earned her CAI Designation with the National Auctioneers Association. During her time at Auction Masters, she has led several change projects that have produced substantial growth for the company. She is always looking ahead and learning in order to better serve her clients and increase the success of their auctions. In 2022 Sarah took over the family business that her parents, Greg & Sharon, successfully ran for 40 years. Sarah lives in Minnetonka with her husband and two sons. She finds the most joy in spending time with family. O.C. (Oliver Clifford) Mangold, age 85, left his earthly home, July 1, 2024, with the “Love of his life” his wife, Joani, holding his hand as he began his journey to meet his Lord and Savior. He was a resident at the Gundersen St. Elizabeth Care Center in Wabasha, MN. O.C. was born August 24, 1938, at Worthington, MN hospital to his parents, Clifford Oliver and Alice Lorraine Mangold, and grew up on their family farm in rural Worthington, MN. O.C. was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and graduated from Brewster High School in 1956. O.C. was involved in FFA and 4H. As a teen, O.C. showed 4-H cattle at County and MN State Fair. In 1956, O.C. was awarded the 4-H Achievement Award at the Minnesota State Fair. He studied Veterinary Science at Iowa State from 1956-1958 and Mankato State from 1958-1960. He was accepted into Oshkosh Mercy Hospital School of Medical Technology in 1959 and received his National Registry Exam at St. Ignace Hospital in Fond Du Lac, WI. He worked at Memorial Hospital in Oshkosh as the Chief Medical Technologist for two years and was hired by Chisago Lakes Hospital in Chisago City, MN as Chief Medical Technologist, Personnel Director and Pathology Assistant from 1963 to 1972. O.C. entered the Reisch -World Wide College of Auctioneers in June 1972 and transitioned his career as an auctioneer. He continued his auction career through March 2, 2019, when he conducted his “Quitin’ Time” Auction at his home in Wickenburg, AZ. Together O.C. and Joani owned the Rush City Livestock Auction Market and also auctioned for East Central Livestock in Mora, MN, selling cattle, registered horses, and livestock where he conducted up to 180 actions in a year during his long career. In 1999 they moved to Wickenburg, AZ where O.C. continued his auction business. O.C.’s auction career took him to 24 states and two foreign countries. He conducted purebred livestock auctions, exotic animal & fowl, heavy equipment, real estate, farm, business liquidation, fine art including original Terry Redlin oil paintings, an original Renaissance oil painting by Romanelli consigned to Sotheby’s of Beverly Hills, CA, antique, coin and personal property sales throughout the nation. O.C. served on the Board of Directors and was president of the Minnesota State Auctioneers Association and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2007. He was elected the Board of Directors in the National Auctioneers Association and a Life Member of both organizations. O.C. was also Co-founder and elected as president for nine years for the Fellowship of Christian Auctioneers International (FCAI). O.C. was awarded the Arizona State Championship Auctioneer 2001. O.C. presented numerous seminars at state and national auction conventions. He was a Volunteer Deputy Sheriffs Mounted Patrol Search & Rescue for Pine County for 3 years. O.C. and Joani were presented with an Official Combat Area U.S. Navy Certificate and the flag flown on the US Navy Patrol Boat of Inshore Boat Unit 15 by DCCS Captain Scott W. Martin and Navy officers, Washington DC, for their collection and donation of clothing and personal previsions for the patrol ship crewmen of the North Arabian Gulf via “Packages from Home” organization. O.C. showed his Champion Shorthorn Bull at the Denver National and the Tennessee National shows; Showed horses at Appaloosa shows in Kentucky, Montana and Oregon. Mangold owned numerous Quarter Horses, APHA Black and White Paints, Buffalo, Shorthorn cattle, variety of bear, deer, zebra and exotic animals/fowl before selling the ranch, livestock, inventory and moving to Wickenburg, AZ in 1999.In Arizona, O.C. continued his career starting the annual National Western Heritage Auction and other online and live Auctions including entire contents of a museum in Tombstone, AZ (including some of Doc Holliday’s possessions), and the International Railroad Museum Auction including selling a caboose and full contents and a dining car service pieces. Buyers from nine countries were in attendance. O.C. also supported Joani’s “Advent by Candlelight” focusing on the meaning of Christmas at Mt. Hope Assembly of God Church with Pastor Duane Middleton, host. In November 2023, O.C. was honored by members of the Navajo Nation, New Mexico for his contributions, support and rodeo sponsorships. Peers nominated O.C. to the 2024 National Auctioneer’s Assoc. Hall of Fame. In 2019 O.C. and Joani moved to Wabasha to be closer to family.Barbara Jean Felix of Sault Ste. Marie, MI entered into marriage with O.C. on January 2, 1960. Two sons were born into this marriage, Martin Allan and Thoren Andrew. Barbara died in an accident in 1974. O.C. married Joani Carole Modjeski August 29, 1981, at St. Stanislaus Kosta Church, Winona, MN by her cousin, Fr. Roy Litereski. O.C. formally adopted Joani’s son, James Earl, and made their home on a ranch in Brook Park, MN. O.C. became a member of the Catholic faith July 29, 2007, and were members of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Wickenburg, AZ. O.C. is survived by his wife, Joani, three sons, Marty Mangold, Medicine Lake, MN, Thoren (Naomi) Mangold, Zumbro Falls, MN, and Jamee (Sara) Mangold, Pulaski, WI. Four grandchildren, Sam, Sonny Marie, Gavin and Ellie. His sister Doris (Ed deceased) Polzine, Brandon, SD, two nieces, Alica (Glenn)Thiele, Brandon, SD and Deanna Polzine-Franch, Souix Falls, SD, and nephew Mike (Kathy) Polzine, Brandon, SD. His service dog, Ike, close friends, auction staff and customers, horsemen and cattlemen, and his long-time friend, Rev. George Highberger, Peoria, AZ.His love of the Word of the Cross, by his readings of the Prophet Isaiah, and his daily greeting, “This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it”! Special Bible verse, “Behold, God is my salvation: I will trust, and not be afraid; for the Lord JE-HO-VAH is my strength and my song; he is also my salvation.” And lastly his daily reciting of Psalm 23:6.O.C. and Joani are members of St. Felix Church Wabasha, MN. Christian Mass for O.C. will be Saturday, July 27, 2024. Visitation at 10 a.m. with mass at 11 p.m. with Father Prince Raja officiating and Deacon John Hust assisting. Luncheon will follow at St. Felix Auditorium. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Winona, MN under O.C.’s hurried comment of “Come on, Let’s kick it in gear!”Memorials may be offered to St. Jude’s Children’s Cancer Research Hospital, Memphis, TN or St. Joseph’s Indian School, Chamberlain, SD. Mass offerings or a tree planted may be in memory of O.C.Arrangements are conducted by Abbott Funeral Home & Crematory, Wabasha, MN. “Have a Blessed day!” See MoreSee Less

The Summer Picnic

In the summer of each year the association hosts a one day “summer picnic” which includes two educational seminars, a noon picnic lunch and generally a networking opportunity in the afternoon.

The Auctioneer

Published two times a year, the Auctioneer is the official magazine of the association and feature informative, educational articles which assist in keeping the membership abreast of developing trends within the industry as well as association news and activities.
